"Damm" is one of the oldest streets in Peine, a town in Lower Saxony. Solomon Perel (also Shlomo Perel or Sally Perel) was born 21 April, 1925 in the house Damm 1 to a German Jewish family. He escaped persecution by the Nazis by masquerading as an ethnic German. His life story is told in the film Europa loosely based on his autobiography
